2901 Processor Slice Family: The AMD 2901 is an industry standard 4 bit Shottkey TTL bipolar processor slice. Multiple 2901s can be cascaded to make a processor with 4, 8,12,or 16 bit wide data bus. The instruction set contains 8 basic instructions. To achieve high processing speeds, the 2901 uses bipolar technology. Alternate manufactures include Motorola, Thompson CSF, National Semiconductor, NEC, Raytheon and Fairchild.

The 2903 is an enhanced version of the 2901. The 2903 includes additional instructions for multiplication and division.
